Field for the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 is Official: Discover Who Secured the Last 6 Spots
Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia Continue Major Streaks: Field for the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 Announced
The countdown is on for the third men’s major of 2024, the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. The field, set to consist of 156 golfers, will commence play on Thursday.
Before Monday, the list included 82 exempt players and 68 qualifiers, among which were 15 amateurs. Tiger Woods, who received a special exemption, is one of the exempt players. The final six spots were announced on Monday.
Robert MacIntyre, last week’s RBC Canadian Open winner, secured one of the six final spots. He is currently ranked No. 41 in the Official World Golf Ranking, needing to be in the top 60 as of Monday. Adam Scott, ranked 61st in the OWGR, will make his 92nd consecutive major championship start. Scott became exempt when Grayson Murray (No. 59) was removed from the list by the USGA for determining the top 60.
Additionally, four players were added as alternates: Sergio Garcia, amateur Brendan Valdes, Otto Black, and Maxwell Moldovan.
Scott will be playing in his 23rd consecutive U.S. Open, while Garcia will make his 25th straight appearance, tied for 10th all-time. Moldovan moved up to first alternate, securing his spot due to Scott’s elevation.
